Privacy policy

Firm Foundation privacy policy

Firm Foundation is an unincorporated association of businesses who are co-operating together to provide new business start ups with the benefit of their collective experience during these difficult times. We recognise that the economy has been undergoing a massive hit as a result of the Covid pandemic and that many of the traditional large employers in and around the Midlands are paring back their operations.

As such, Firm Foundation has no interest in keeping any personal data for any purpose other than to provide free advice to those people who have just started down the path of starting up a new business. Once that initial advice is given, any personal data will be deleted within 3 months. This policy explains when and why we collect personal data about people who visit the website, how it is used, the conditions under which it may be disclosed to others and how it is kept secure.

Firm Foundation requires little, if any, personal data and acts merely as a conduit to put you in touch with a mentor. Nevertheless it has been decided to set out here some information about the flow of your personal data through the website. If you send us any personal data (such as contained in your email address) then this is because you have positively chosen to provide it through the website.

This policy may change from time to time so please check this page occasionally to ensure that you’re happy with any changes. By using the website, Firm Foundation understands that you agree to the terms of this policy.

Any questions regarding this policy and our privacy practices should be sent by email support@firmfoundation.co.uk

How personal data is collected

Personal data is collected when a person completes the Contact Form, or the Questionnaire although the data provided should be minimal at that stage – simply enough for making contact.

Information collected might include an email address, an IP address and information regarding what pages are accessed and when. You may choose to put in information about your proposals for your business start up. This will be regarded as confidential but do not confuse it with information about you as an individual.

If you choose to ask for advice from one of the volunteer mentors, then they will each become a data processor for your personal data under their own businesses privacy policy.

Use of ‘cookies’

They collect statistical data about your browsing actions and patterns on the website and do not identify you as an individual. For example, Firm Foundation uses cookies to store your country preference. This helps to improve the website and deliver a better more efficient service. • Contact you regarding queries raised in the Contact Form
  • Respond to any request by you for more information
  • Send you specific communications which you have requested

Retention periods for personal information will be reviewed on a regular basis. Personal information will be held only in accordance with this policy.

Access to your information

Do not forget that Firm Foundation is a help facility intended to help you find a mentor who can provide you with answers to some of those tricky questions that you will have when starting down the path to launching your own business. For that purpose, if you complete our Questionnaire, those details will pass to the mentor who will be your point of contact.

Apart from the mentors, (and you can see who they are on the Team page on this website) we will not pass or sell or rent your personal data or any of your other information to any third parties.

Third party service providers

This website is hosted by Raphael Design Ltd. The information you choose to provide in the Contact Form or in the Questionnaire will pass to the servers managed by Raphael Design Ltd (one of the team).

Email addresses for Firm Foundation are managed by Five Computing Ltd, another team member.

Further, if you make phone contact with us, that call will initially be handled by another team member, Effective Business Management Ltd. They will field any calls and provide the mentor with details sufficient to put you in contact. They may store your information through their phone system subject to their own privacy policy.

Please be reassured that information will not be released to third parties beyond as described unless you have requested that it should be, or that disclosure is required by law, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime or by the office of the Information Commissioner.
